On September 6, CCMH Home Health nurse,Denise Cable, put on her bunker gear and climbed 110 flights of stairs in honor of the 343 New York City firefighters who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack.
Since 2012, Oklahoma City has held the OKC 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. Three hundred forty-three career, volunteer and retired firefighters make the grueling climb in full gear with a lanyard that states the name of one fallen firefighter. Once the climb is completed, they place the name on a board and ring a bell, signifying the end of duty.
This is the second year for Cable to participate alongside her husband Brian. Both are Chattanooga volunteer firefighters.[Continue Reading]
