Over 500 Lawton, Cache, Elgin, Sterling, and Flower Mound public school 4th graders had a day at the YMCA full of swimming, basketball, dancing, rock climbing, Zumba and no homework as their reward for personally averaging 10,000 steps a day during the CCMH Foundation's WALK program.
The Foundation was established in 1993 by the Board of Trustees of the Hospital Authority to organize and solicit financial support for the Hospital through current and planned giving. The Foundation created and manages programs to provide medicine, equipment and nutrition to patients in need, as well as funds to refurbish and replace items required for patient care.
Our Community Commitment
Long-term, community service is at the heart of Comanche County Memorial Hospital. This broad mission, which places accountability to the community over individual profit, is the chief difference between investor-owned health businesses and not-for-profit health care organizations. Our dollars are reinvested in the community's health instead of benefiting any individual. We reinvest by purchasing innovative equipment, upgrading facilities, providing charity care and underwriting losses sustained by providing specialty services that qualify for little or no reimbursement.
To support, promote, advance and strengthen the health and well-being of Southwest Oklahoma citizens through the funding of specific projects and needs of the Comanche County Hospital Authority.
The hospital's charitable mission costs well over $20 million a year. We must cover that and our expenses with an average profit margin of 1%. It takes a lot of careful planning to manage within this parameter.
Volunteer and philanthropic support have been an integral part of the Memorial Hospital story since our beginning. It will continue to be a base of the future of health care in our community, continuing a proud heritage of caring for all.
Foundation Funds and Projects
Private support has played a key role in the hospital's mission since its' founding days. Giving opportunities range from the unrestricted fund, endowment fund and numerous specific programs. Gifts may be restricted by donors to a particular specialty or program, while unrestricted gifts are directed by the Foundation Board to help meet the most pressing needs of the Hospital.
