Oral, head and neck cancers claim approximately 13,000 lives per year. However, there is hope; if diagnosed early, these cancers can be more easily treated without significant complications, and the chances of survival greatly increase.
Cancer Centers Partners with Research Group Based at Mayo Clinic
The Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma (CCSO) was recently accepted as a member of the Academic and Community Cancer Research United (ACCRU). This association will greatly expand the number of clinical trials available to our physicians and patients. ACCRU is a cancer clinical research group based at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center.
“This marriage between highly acclaimed academic centers and community cancer programs is rather innovative and is intended to increase the number of patients enrolled in clinical trials at the local level in communities across the United States," said Dr. Nadim Nimeh, Principal Investigator of CCSO.
