New MRI Offers Most Comprehensive, Advanced Imaging in Region

CCMH recently acquired a revolutionary tool in the fight against breast cancer. The Siemens Magnetom Espree MRI is the most powerful MRI with a wide open design that accommodates larger patients and helps reduce anxiety and claustrophobia.

The Espree offers exceptional patient comfort, superior high-quality images, and seamless clinical work flow. The Espree provides extraordinary performance, patient satisfaction, and a very wide range of clinical applications.

The new system offers a comprehensive range of applications for breast imaging. It can be used to obtain a three-dimensional representation of the breast in high resolution. With this technology, clinicians can calculate the size of a lesion, or compare MRI results with ultrasound or X-ray mammography images.  It also can assist physicians in performing biopsies accurately and quickly using automatic calculations and settings.

Other applications include a new module for low dose early detection of lung cancer, imaging for pancreatic and liver diseases and cancers, spinal and disk problems and neurological disease. The Espree can ultimately detect cancer or other issues in all soft tissue.

The new MRI also features a wider opening and shorter length, as well as more than double the space above the face of an average MRI. In fact, the shorter length allows the patient's head to be out for 60% of  most routine scans. These improvements accommodate patients with special conditions and needs, such as:

  • Claustrophobic patients
  • ICU patients or those dependent on medical equipment
  • Obese patients (up to
  • 500 lbs)
  • Pediatric patients
  • Elderly patients
  • Mobility Issues
  • Pain Issues
  • Respiratory Problems
  • Kyphosis
The new Espree MRI will be located in The Outpatient Center at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. It will be available for use in January 2013.
